INTRODUCING: Alliance For Human Research Protection
April 4, 2002 - Visiting the alliance on the Web is a must. The group, a network of lay people and professionals, focuses on "advancing responsible and ethical medical research practices, to ensure that the human rights, dignity and welfare of human subjects are protected, and to minimize the risks associated with such endeavors."
The sparkplug behind this mission statement is Vera Hassner Sharav who organized the alliance as "a public interest watchdog group." She has also developed a database "to track ethical violations in research."
Read about the alliance's campaign for informed consent; ethical standards and codes; research protection for children; and its careful tracking and investigations of unethical medical practices.
The alliance is new to the Web. It has our full support and we hope that you tune in regularly to see the kind of work the group does.
