Results from National Depression Screening Day (NDSD) College Sites

 

Highlights from Depression and Anxiety Screening in the Fall Semester

In Person Screenings, using one form
(Total Screenings 8206)

  • 39% scored positive for depression
  • 14% scored positive for bipolar disorder (manic-depression)
  • 44% scored positive for generalized anxiety disorder
  • 36% scored positive for post-tramatic stress disorder 

Online Screenings
(Results from 6/1/02 - 6/1/03)

  • 61% scored positive for depression (Total Screenings 13,062) 
  • 28% scored positive for bipolar disorder (manic-depression)                       (Total Screenings 4,084)
  • 76% scored positive for generalized anxiety disorder                                 (Total Screenings 6,158) 
  • 76% scored positive for post-traumatic stress disorder                            (Total Screenings 1,119)

Participants were screened using the 
following tools:

  • Depression: HANDSTM (Harvard Department of Psychiatry/ National Depressioon Screening Day Scale)
  • Bipolar Disorder (Manic- Depression): Mood Disorder Questionnaire
  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder: Carroll-Davidson GAD Screen
  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder:    SPRINT 4

 

National Depression Screening Day is October 7, 2004.

National Eating Disorders Awareness Week is February 27 to March 5, 2005.

National Alcohol Screening Day is April 7, 2005.
